Fajã
is the agriculturally most productive valley of the island. It is crossed by many mule tracks that are used on other hiking routes. From the centre of Fajã, several paths lead up to the hermitage in Cachaço, the emblematic symbol of the island. The described variant leads over almost traffic-free ways, but with the map in the hand one can also use the ways, on which from time to time a car passes by.
